Dangerous roads lead to stay-home advisory

GRAINGER COUNTY – The Grainger County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to remain at home due to deteriorating road conditions across the county.

In a public safety notice issued Friday morning, officials said roads are unsafe and conditions may continue to worsen. Residents are asked to avoid travel unless it is an absolute emergency.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that unnecessary travel places both motorists and first responders at risk during severe winter weather. Law enforcement, EMS, fire and rescue crews and road crews are continuing to respond to calls and work throughout the county as conditions allow.

Officials are asking the public to stay safe, remain at home and keep first responders in their thoughts as they work to meet community needs during the weather event.

Residents are encouraged to monitor official county and emergency management updates for further information as conditions change.
