RUTLEDGE – A local racer is turning heads on the national drag racing scene and bringing recognition back home to Grainger County.
Richard Reagan of Rutledge recently etched his name into record books after a standout performance at an elite Pro Street drag racing event in Dinwiddie, Virginia. Reagan was one of only eight drivers nationwide invited to compete based on season point standings in the Pro Drag Racing Association.
The special event was held in Dinwiddie, Virginia, at the Virginia Motorsports Park, located south of Richmond and known for hosting some of the sport’s most competitive events. With limited entries and a packed grandstand, the pressure was high from the opening round.
Behind the wheel of his screw-blown Fox-body Mustang, Reagan delivered a blistering qualifying pass of 3.85 seconds over the eighth mile at a recorded speed of 199.29 miles per hour. The run set a new Pro Street Drag Racing record for the event.
The performance earned Reagan the Liberty’s Gears Pro Street record sponsored by Menscer Motorsports, marking a major milestone in his racing career.
Reagan lives in Rutledge and is the owner of Reagan Excavation Company.
