KNOXVILLE – A long-standing provider of pediatric care in East Tennessee will soon have a new name honoring one of the region’s most iconic native daughters.
East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, a free-standing pediatric health system serving families across the region for nearly 90 years, is being renamed Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital as part of a new partnership between the facility and the country music star and philanthropist.
Hospital leaders say the name change reflects an expanded commitment to children’s health care and aims to bring heightened visibility and support to pediatric services throughout East Tennessee and beyond. The rebranding effort is expected to roll out in the coming months.
Originally established in the late 1930s, the hospital has grown into a comprehensive health care system with multiple locations offering primary care, urgent care, specialty treatment and rehabilitation services. It is certified by the state of Tennessee as a Comprehensive Regional Pediatric Center and provides care for thousands of children each year.
Officials note the change in name does not alter the hospital’s mission to deliver high-quality, family-centered care. The ongoing work of physicians, nurses and staff to treat children with a full range of medical needs will continue under the new designation.
The partnership with Parton, a native of East Tennessee who has long been involved in philanthropic efforts focused on children’s health and education, is expected to strengthen the hospital’s reach and fundraising capabilities. Leaders believe the collaboration will emphasize access to world-class pediatric care and deeper community engagement.
Healthcare advocates across the region view the transition as a significant moment in the hospital’s history, marking a new chapter focused on innovation, compassion and expanded care for young patients throughout East Tennessee.
