The Grainger County Board of Education met Tuesday, January 20, to conduct regular business and hear updates on student programs finances and district initiatives.
Board members approved the meeting agenda and minutes from the previous meeting before welcoming a student representative from Grainger High School who shared updates from the Student Advisory Committee. The presentation highlighted recent appreciation events for school staff, increased student involvement in activities, scholarship awareness efforts and community service projects.
Updates were provided on revisions to school board policies addressing the responsible use of artificial intelligence. District leaders explained the updates are intended to guide appropriate use while providing staff training and flexibility as technology continues to evolve.
Other items included approval of a Grainger High School FFA trip, authorization for school calendar adjustments if weather conditions require changes and informational updates on firearm safety instruction required by state law.
