RUTLEDGE – The Grainger County Journal, in partnership with the Grainger County Veterans Service Office and Ridgeview Terrace, is inviting the public to help recognize the men and women who have honorably served the nation through a new Veteran of the Month program.
Community members are encouraged to nominate local veterans whose service, character and continued contributions reflect dedication, sacrifice and commitment to others. The program honors veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces and from all eras of service.
Each selected Veteran of the Month will receive multiple forms of recognition. The honoree will be recognized on the Veteran of the Month plaque displayed at Ridgeview Terrace, receive an official certificate and be featured in the Grainger County Journal newspaper and on its website. Additional notable gifts and recognitions will also be presented as part of the program.
Nominations may be submitted by family members, friends, fellow veterans or community members. Veterans do not need to have seen combat or received formal awards to be nominated, as all honorable service is valued and worthy of recognition.
Veteran of the Month nominations may be submitted in person by dropping off a written nomination at the Grainger County Journal office, located at 7707 Rutledge Pike, Rutledge, TN 37861. Nominations may also be submitted by email to adalton@graingercountyjournal.com, ahale@lakewaypublishers.com or Eric.stephens@graingercountytn.gov.
Those submitting nominations are encouraged to include the veteran’s name, photo, branch of service and a brief explanation of why the individual should be considered for Veteran of the Month.
Additional details regarding nomination deadlines and selection information will be shared by the Grainger County Journal and the Grainger County Veterans Service Office.
