RUTLEDGE – The 2026 Grainger County Tomato Festival is already building excitement across the county with the announcement of its official dates, the unveiling of this year’s collectible Case XX knife and the addition of a new live music competition.

Festival organizers recently confirmed the 2026 event will take place Friday and Saturday, July 17-18 in downtown Rutledge, continuing a long-standing tradition that celebrates Grainger County’s agricultural heritage and world famous tomatoes.

Adding to the anticipation, officials have also announced the release of the 2026 Tomato Festival Case XX Knife, now available for preorder in limited quantities.

This year’s knife introduces for the first time the Axe Handle pattern, the newest pattern from Case XX. The design was specially created by Texas custom knife maker Bill Ruple for Case XX, marking a significant debut for collectors and festival supporters alike.

The Axe Handle pattern measures 4 inches closed and was selected to symbolize the hard work of farmers who cleared stumps and chopped roots from fields to make way for crops. Organizers say the pattern reflects the grit and determination that helped shape Grainger County’s farming legacy and continues to define the spirit of the Tomato Festival.

The knife features a vibrant handle that reflects the warm orange tones often seen in the sunrise over Grainger County’s tomato fields, a tribute to both the land and the labor behind each harvest.

Priced at $80, the 2026 Case XX Tomato Festival Knife is available for preorder while supplies last. Organizers stress that availability is limited. Those interested in securing one are encouraged to call 865-828-3411 to preorder and prepay.

In addition to the collectible release, officials have announced the inaugural Grainger County Battle of the Bands, set for Saturday, July 18 at 4 p.m. on the Tomato Festival main stage, describing the event as more than a competition, calling it a launchpad for local talent, a celebration of creativity and a day of family friendly entertainment. Participating bands will compete for cash prizes and bragging rights and the winner will earn the opportunity to serve as the opening act for DEK of Hearts at the Grainger County Fall Festival in October.

Spots for the competition are limited. Musicians interested in competing can find entry and sponsorship information through the Grainger County Chamber of Commerce website.
