PINEVILLE, KENTUCKY – After disappointing outings in the first two basketball games of the Redmond Auto Group Holiday Classic, the Grainger High School Grizzlies found the final game much more to their liking.
Taking on Williamsburg (Kentucky), the Grizzlies jumped out to a 23-5 lead in the first period and cruised from there to a 70-33 win. Jackson Trent led the Grizzlies with 16 points and three others finished the game in double figures which included 15 points each from Kade Williams and Parker Creswell. Carver Turley added 13 points.
Grainger was never really challenged in the contest. They built a 27-point lead on five straight points by Williams and the lead ballooned to 42-17 at the half. The Grizz netted eight points in a row at one point in the third period to push their advantage to 54-20. With a running clock due to the mercy rule in the fourth, Grainger breezed to the victory.
The second half of the season starts this week and Grainger plays a pair of road games, taking on Cumberland Gap and South Greene high schools.
