RUTLEDGE – Christmas spirit will shine bright across Grainger County as communities prepare for a series of festive tree lighting celebrations to welcome the holiday season.

In Blaine, families are invited to the 7th annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Saturday, November 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Blaine City Hall, 220 Indian Ridge Road. The event will feature free hot chocolate, coffee and cookies for attendees to enjoy. Santa Claus will make a special appearance to visit with children and pose for photos.

Rutledge will continue the tradition on Tuesday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m. with the annual Christmas Community Tree Lighting on the Grainger County Courthouse lawn. The Blue Springs youth group will help lead the celebration with music and fellowship as the community gathers for the official lighting. Sun Fresh Produce will provide treat bags for children, and refreshments will be offered by Grainger County Mayor Mike Byrd.

In Washburn, holiday cheer will take center stage on Friday, December 5, as Washburn School hosts its inaugural Christmas Program and Festival of Trees at 6 p.m. at 7925 Highway 131. Students, families and neighbors will celebrate with music, seasonal displays and the glow of Washburn’s community tree.
