JAMES E. TATE JR.
James E. Tate Jr., “Jimmy,” 82, of Bean Station earned his angel wings Christmas Night, while we celebrated the birth of Christ, every star shone just a little brighter.
Pappy was preceded in death by his wife, Vera. He is survived by his girls who can’t imagine living in a world without him. Daughter, Carolyn Williams (Glenn); granddaughter, Sydney Boukari (Ben); great-granddaughters Olivia Grace and Emma James; and surrogate daughter, Melissa “Sarge” Cameron.
Pap lived a life large and full. Besides his farm, he called Wyoming his other home. He spent two weeks of his 80th year on a guided tour organized and led by his grandson-in-law, Ben. He was an active member of Mary’s Chapel Church and his faith in God profound.
James retired from the United Auto Workers and Lear Corporation in Morristown. He was a loud and proud “Buy American” guy; you never doubted where he stood or his opinion. James had a heart of gold. He loved fiercely and was a loyal friend. He was a beautiful example of what a man should be. I was lucky to call him my dad. All cats and his family will miss him beyond measure. We only hope he continues his quest for the perfect cheeseburger into the next life. We love you. Godspeed.
Receiving of friends will be Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stubblefield Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Mel Hawkins and Rev. Michael Long officiating. Graveside services will be announced later.
