HUNTSVILLE – One of the most successful football seasons in Rutledge Middle School history came to an end last week with a loss in the second round of the TSSAA playoffs.
The trip to Scott County to take on Huntsville Middle School did not go the way the Pioneers had hoped and they dropped a 22-12 decision. Pioneer quarterback Jay Wells
completed six passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. Wells picked up 31 yards on the ground and his scoring pass went to receiver Peyton Petty.

Kyle Bishop shouldered the load in the run game when he carried the ball 11 times for 141 yards and a score. He was also active on the defensive side of the ball and he had eight tackles with two being for loss. Petty joined Jax Wyatt and Brayzin Cook in recording three tackles with Cook also forcing a fumble by HMS.
The Pioneers conclude the 2025 season with an overall record of 8-2.
