RUTLEDGE – A poor showing in the final regular season game did not carry over into the post-season for the Rutledge Middle School Pioneers football team.
Playing in the first round of the TSSAA middle school playoffs, the Pioneers did not have any trouble dispatching Horace Maynard Middle School 54-0 Thursday, October16.
RMS moves on to the second round where they will play Huntsville Middle at Scott County High School Thursday, October 23.
Pioneer Jay Wells was the star of the show when he ran for 154 yards on eight carries with half of those rushes ending in the end zone. Kyle Bishop also ran eight times for 72 yards and scored twice. Wells and Bishop were not only efficient on offense, they were on defense as well as both had four tackles against Horace Maynard. Ismael Garcia had three tackles and Brayzin Cook had
three tackles, two stops for loss and a sack.
