WASHBURN – The Washburn High School Pirates basketball team earned a 64-60 victory Monday, December 29 against the Lighthouse Christian Lions from Antioch.
The following day, the Pirates faced Franklin Road Academy from Nashville, and came up short with a 64-39 loss to the Panthers.
It was a tight first quarter with FRA ahead 17-12 at the buzzer. Halftime saw the Panthers leading 29-21. The Pirates fell behind in the third with a strong Panther 20-6 lead and could never catch up, ending the fourth with 12 points compared to FRA’s 15.
Dillion Mullins led Washburn scoring with 10 points. Freshman Nolan Harville and Matthew Harville both shot seven points, Isaac Southerland had six points and Ayden Davis, Bryson Clay and Bryson Coffman added three points each. Matthew Harville led in rebounds eight and Clay and Mullins pulled down four each.
The Pirates will be at home this week to play Hancock County and Cosby high schools.
