RUTLEDGE – The holiday season is shining a little brighter in Grainger County this year as the Grainger County Journal launches its inaugural Letters to Santa event. For the first time the Journal is opening an official Santa Mailbox and inviting children across the county to send their letters straight to the North Pole.
This new tradition is meant to bring families together and capture the wonder of Christmas through the eyes of local children. The Journal will feature the letters in a special Christmas edition that highlights the wishes, dreams and holiday spirit found throughout Grainger County.
Parents and guardians may help children write or transcribe their letters. All submissions will be collected and published in the Journal’s Christmas issue then delivered to Santa with care from the Journal’s holiday helpers.
Families have several ways to submit letters. They may be emailed to adalton@graingercountyjournal.com, sent through graingercountyjournal.com or dropped off at the Grainger County Journal office. An official red Santa Mailbox is located outside the front door for handwritten letters and every letter placed inside will be delivered to Santa.
The Santa Mailbox will officially close on Wednesday, December 18 and families are encouraged to send letters soon to make sure they reach Santa before Christmas.
Children and all who believe can also visit graingercountyjournal.com beginning Monday, December 1, to follow Santa’s journey around the world with the Journal’s official Santa Tracker. The tracker will go live at the start of the month to bring even more Christmas magic to Grainger County.
