RUTLEDGE – The doors officially opened at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 17 as customers began filing into the newly completed Grizz Market & Deli, marking the start of a new chapter along Highway 11W.

Located at 2210 Highway 11W directly in front of Grainger High School, home of the Grizzlies, the long anticipated market and deli welcomed its first wave of customers with gas flowing at the pumps, fresh coffee brewing and deli items hot and ready.

From the moment the clock struck 11 a.m., the atmosphere inside was upbeat and energetic. Customers stepped through the doors to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and cappuccinos, the sight of hot pizza ready behind the counter and the familiar comfort of hot dogs turning on rollers. Coolers were fully stocked with drinks of all sorts and shelves lined with snacks, candy and grab and go favorites.

Owners and staff greeted guests as they explored the bright clean interior. The store features dedicated seating areas where customers can sit down and enjoy deli meals, offering more than just a quick stop but a place to gather and relax.

Co owner Walt Morgan previously described the vision for The Grizz as a modern gas station with small town charm and that vision came to life Tuesday as families, students and community members stopped in to see the finished product.

The deli, which features ballpark style favorites, quickly became a focal point for early customers. Fresh pizza slices were served throughout the day alongside hot sandwiches and other prepared items. Breakfast offerings, coffee and specialty drinks also drew attention from those eager to try something new in town.

Outside, vehicles pulled in steadily as drivers filled up at the pumps, taking advantage of the BP rewards program offered at the location. Inside and out, the steady flow of traffic reflected the anticipation surrounding the opening.

The store includes two public restrooms and ample interior space designed with both convenience and comfort in mind. The bright lighting, organized layout and welcoming staff gave the business a family friendly feel from the outset.

Beginning Wednesday, February 18 regular business hours will be 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Fuel pumps will operate 24 hours a day starting Tuesday.

Owners expressed appreciation for the community’s support and said they look forward to welcoming customers in the days and weeks ahead.
